Wings by Aprilynne Pike

Wings is a Young Adult novel about Laurel Sewell, who recently moved from her home in Orick, CA, to Crescent City, CA. After living there for a few months, she noticed a bump on her back. Thinking that it is just a zit, which still sort of surprises her because she never gets zits, she just rubs some of her mother's homemade cream on it and hopes it will go away. As the days go by the bump gets bigger and bigger, and it finally disappears, but it leaves a flower that resembles a pair of petal-like wings in its place. This book follows Laurel's quest to find out who-or what-she is, with action, danger, romance that will keep you reading until the last page. This book is probably more suited for girls, and those who read it won't put it down until the end. Wings, in the genre of reality/fantasy, resembles other books, including Need by Carrie Jones, and Evernight and Stargazer by Claudia Gray.
